MALDEN — Looking forward to a little non-Revs entry...
WHO: Juve-Pro Soccer at Boston City FC II
WHERE: Brother Gilbert Stadium, Malden Catholic High School, Malden, Mass.
WHEN: 6 p.m.
TV/RADIO: BCFC Livestream
WHAT’S UP: The two Massachusetts amateur sides will tangle tonight in the first round of qualifying for the 2019 US Open Cup competition. It caps off a weekend of amateur soccer, which saw three matches in the first qualifying round take place Saturday.
A little bonus soccer coverage for you this weekend! We will post the XI’s when we get them. For those who want to come out, the address is 99 Crystal Street in Malden, a few blocks from Malden Center on the Orange Line. And yes, there is an admission charge.
Sean here at Brother Gilbert Stadium. The starting XI's and benches are live.
BCFC are in the red kit, with Juve-Pro in white. We are underway after some Detroit Rock City blares over Crystal Street. BCFC headed toward the Malden Catholic building to open things up, and the Ironsides Crew is here! Juve get us started.
3' BCFC with its first go, but blazes over.
6' BCFC with a free kick, Cunha takes it... he's got a boot, and it's into the restraining net behind the goal.
10' Merim on the counter for Juve, he has a go and blazes over. Good football, this.
13' Juve's Cristiano de Souza goes into the referee's book for a rather reckless challenge.
14' BCFC's Augusto Silva goes into the referee's book. One yellow apiece so far.
19' Free kick by Juve, and Tibita heads it over the bar. No one with any shots on target yet.
27' BCFC's Samuel Deossa gets a little telling off for a foul in front of the Ironsides Crew.
28' BCFC's Michael Rincon with a dispossession in the corner, he drives in and fires with Wanderson charging off his line, Wanderson with the save. First solid attempt in the match. From what I understand, Rincon is a former Revs Academy player.
30' Second Juve corner sees a defender clear it. It's end to end, this. There hasn't been sustained possession, the tight confines doing a number on both sides. Giveaways a plenty. Some good technical football with the footwork.
33' BCFC making a sub: Augusto Silva comes off, and Elvert Bodden comes on.
39' BCFC's Matt Callahan into the book. Found that to be weird as BCFC had some passes together and had advantage, but the referee stopped play to give the card.
40' Juve's Moises Lopes goes into the book, and we're finally playing again. That took about two minutes off.
43' BCFC down to 10 men as Callahan is sent off for his second yellow. He clipped Juve's Brava, Braves goes down clutching his ankle, the Juve bench appealed straight away, and the referee wasted no time in going to his pocket.
45+2' STRAIGHT RED to Juve's Tibita. Tibita plowed into a BCFC player, and the referee went to the back pocket. 10 v 10 the rest of the way. One Juve coach kicked at the training cones and sent them sprawling in his disgust.
HALF
Second half underway. BCFC get us started as we Shake It Off (Come on over and we can Shake, Shake, Shake)...
46' Juve sub to start: Leonel Pereira on for Cristiano de Souza. BCFC sub William Marcal for Jose Silva.
52' Thor had a heavy hammer for Juve from close range, but it's over the bar. Closest Juve has come so far.
53' GOAL BOSTON CITY, and it's JHONATA BATISTA with a side foot effort beyond Wanderson... a great effort puts BCFC up 1-0. Cunha with the long ball assist.
58' Juve sub: Admilson Miranda for Antonio Horta.
60' Hour in, and BCFC had a nice idea to try for a second, but the insertion had a little too much pace on it.
63' Juve sub: Denilson Silva comes off, Alyson Pereira comes on. So that's all three Juve-Pro subs.
68' Juve's Carlos Monteiro into the book for a cynical challenge on Jadson Leite as he charged up the pitch.
69' Danny Apagee on for Samuel Deossa, and that should be BCFC's final sub.
77' Michael Rincon goes into the referee's book.
80' STRAIGHT RED. BCFC's Jadson Leite is sent off for a cynical challenge. BCFC down to nine.
83' Jose Silva of Juve-Pro into the book. Lotsa plastic issued tonight.
90+2' Free kick for Juve's Lopes. He drives it right on Wagmeister, who saves it.
90+5' Lotsa stoppage time here.... and there's the whistle.
