BSJ Daily Briefing 09.17.18: Looking for answers after Pats fall to Jags taken at BSJ Headquarters (Regular Features)

Good morning!

  • An ugly one for Pats in Florida on Sunday afternoon, with some troubling issues on both sides of the ball. Greg takes a closer look at the concerns and analyzes how many of them are going to stick around beyond Week 2.

  • Still a bit disappointed that the Pats didn't go for it at their own 19 on 4th and 1 with eight minutes remaining in a two-possession game. I know the Jaguars defense is impressive but that's the kind of spot I feel like Belichick goes for in past years and it ended up being the Pats' last realistic shot at making it a game once the Jags scored immediately after the punt. Belichick wasn't doing much explaining afterwards.

  • Going to be facing a desperate Lions team in Detroit next weekend for the Pats. A step down in competition for sure, but Matt Patricia will be emptying the playbook to avoid going 0-3 against his mentor.

  • Some interesting exclusive comments by Chris Sale on the new opener concept to Sean McAdam.
