Dr. Flynn: Breaking down RB injuries for Patriots, Jaguars heading into Sunday taken at BSJ Headquarters (Patriots)

I know you’re all probably busy getting ready for the weekend, but I want to share my best-guess running back predictions with you before Sunday.

Leonard Fournette: Fournette is dealing with a “mild” hamstring strain that occurred last weekend. He has not practiced all week, focusing instead on rehab. While the team has insisted this is a minor injury — and Fournette himself said he is feeling positive about playing — this remains an injury to keep an eye on. No hamstring injury is truly “minor,” especially this early in the season. We’ve seen preseason hamstring injuries come back to bite many players in the past (Rob Gronkowski and Matthew Slater are two recent examples). On Thursday, Fournette called his availability a “game-day decision.” If Fournette looks okay in the pregame evaluation with medical staff, Doug Marrone will have a big decision: Does he risk re-injury to arguably his most potent offensive weapon? Or does he play it safe with TJ Yeldon? Really, he might have to measure the overall importance of a Week 2 game.
