Welcome to first and 10, a roundup of all the (mostly) Patriots-related news you need to start your Monday. Grab your coffee and let’s get to it.
We made it, guys. The NFL regular season starts this week. Congrats to everyone. It was a long and occasionally messy journey, but we're officially back to football. Give yourselves a round of applause.
--No media availability down in Foxborough today for us, but there will be a conference call with Bill Belichick late this morning.
--Happy Birthday to former Brandon Spikes, the inconsistent but never boring linebacker. He turns 31 today.
Now, on with the links...
1. I'm going to have a noontime Q&A. Get your questions in now, because it's going to be epic.
2. I was part of a group of a few reporters who got a crack at speaking with the assistant coaches on Monday, and got some good quotes about a variety of things from Brian Flores and Dante Scarnecchia.
3. For the first time in his professional career, Phillip Dorsett is ready to take more on his shoulders. He knows he has a unique opportunity this season, and sounds up for the challenge.
4. Here's the notebook from Sunday, which included a flurry of roster moves as the Patriots added eight to their practice squad and claimed a pair of receivers. It also has the news that Trent Brown wasn't spotted at the start of their Sunday workout. Wouldn't worry too much about Brown -- we saw him in the locker room before practice and he didn't appear to have any sort of issue. But still worth monitoring.
5. We've also got locker room video from Sunday -- Keion Crossen and David Andrews.
6. In the interest of accountability, Greg takes a look at how his own 53-man roster projection stands against the one the Patriots assembled.
7. My NFL Notebook this week provides 10 early thoughts on the Patriots 53-man roster.
8. Our Live Coverage from Saturday's cutdown day was crazy. Check out how it all went down here.
9. Miguel has an in-depth look at what Saturday's cuts meant for the Patriots from a cap perspective.
10. Phil Perry has Trey Flowers saying he should be good to go for Week One.
Extra Point:
It’s almost like the @Patriots check the @BostonSportsBSJ message boards. Am I right, @cpriceNFL?! #GetDatMoneyGronk pic.twitter.com/YTtbVSZDFd
