The Celtics struck quickly when free agency opened on Sunday morning, agreeing to terms with free agent center Aron Baynes on a two-year contract, according to a league source. Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports was first to report the agreement between the two sides.
The second year of the deal is a player option for Baynes and the total deal is worth just over $10.6 million, a league source told BostonSportsJournal.com. The center was a defensive standout in Boston last season after inking a $4.3 million deal with Boston with the team's room-level exception. He averaged 6.0 PPG and 5.4 RPG in 81 games, playing an average of 18.3 minutes in those contests.
