BSJ Weekend Briefing 06.29.18: Back to the Boogie Down taken at BSJ Headquarters (Regular Features)

Good morning!

A few random thoughts while I figure out if it's harder to get ball over the head of the Red Sox' outfield, or to intercept Tom Brady...

  • After dispatching with the fallen Angels (seriously, there are some bad teams in this league), we can all get ready for the three-day main event in the Bronx.

  • Resetting the standings:

  • The Red Sox are now officially (OK, in my mind) back in first place now that they have a better winning percentage than the Yankees. I don't get how they're one game ahead, but I'm not good with numbers.

  • Pitching matchups:

Tonight

Saturday

Sunday

  • Giddy. Up.

  • Like the trade for Blue Jays right-handed bat Steve Pearce. Not a huge name and I'm sure some people will complain, but it's a small piece and could help this weekend.

  • How many used baseballs and fungoes do you think the Red Sox are asking for Blake Swihart?

  • I had no idea Kawhi Leonard: "is easily a top-5 player in this league when healthy." Really? Top 10 maybe.

  • The NFL offseason can be a blur. Almost forgot that Robert Quinn and Trumaine Johnson are now in the AFC East. The Patriots had a lot of internal interest in Johnson before the Rams put the franchise tag on him a few years ago. He's really, really good. We'll see what Quinn has left. He's another player the Patriots have liked over the years.
