Charlie McAvoy named to NHL All-Rookie team

Charlie McAvoy was named to the NHL's All-Rookie team – the first Bruins selection since Torey Krug was named to the team in 2013-14.

McAvoy joined the Bruins two years ago when he left Boston University and joined the Bruins in the playoffs. He followed that with his first full season and led all first-year defensemen in time on ice (1,395:17, 22:09 per game). The 20-year-old blue-liner had seven goals and 25 assists, the sixth-most points by a rookie Bruins defenseman.

Nashville Predators goalie Juuse Saros, Devils defenseman Will Butcher, Islanders forward Mathew Barzal, Canucks forward Brock Boeser, and Coyotes forward Clayton Keller rounded out the team. Keller and McAvoy were teammates at Boston University.
