Ain't life grand: Recall that last year, the Red Sox didn't hit a single grand slam for the entire season. This season, they've somehow managed to hit five in the last 12 games -- all by different hitters. The big blow Friday was provided by Mitch Moreland who, with the bases full of teammates and no out, hit the first pitch he saw from reliever Emilio Pagan in the sixth inning, snapping a 3-3 tie. It's probably a statistical aberration, but the turnaround is astounding. Moreland has always hit well at Oakland Coliseum -- the homer was the 15th in 46 career games played here -- so perhaps it shouldn't be surprising that he was the one to hit one. It also marked his fourth-straight game with a homer here, dating back to last season.
