BSJ Daily Briefing 04.19.18: Greetings from Toronto, catching up, Patriots drama taken in Toronto (Regular Features)

TORONTOGood morning!

A few random thoughts from a place they call Hogtown (apparently there were a lot of farms here before Toronto became overrun with pavement):

  • Excited to bring you all the action from Game 4 with Joe McDonald. This is a big one. Will the Bruins cash in on some of the chances they had late in Game 3 to take a 3-1 lead, or will Freddie Andersen build off some of the success he had late in Game 3 and help draw the Leafs even?

  • Would love to tell you the city is buzzing, but it's not. I don't think there's a ton of confidence in the Leafs here.

  • Pretty sweet little futbol/football stadium they have on the outskirts of the city for FC Toronto and the Argos ... I know a certain MLS team that could use a nice little stadium like that near an urban center.

  • Another grand slam for the Red Sox? Man, John Farrell must be ticked off somewhere.

  • Yes, the drama is real in Patriots-land but, and maybe I'm being naive about this, but I don't really care who is or isn't there until the offseason practices start. These are just voluntary workouts. If Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski stay away from those, then we have something.

  • You're certainly entitled to think this isn't a big deal and just a media creation (and ESPN is definitely ramping up the drama on this ... Have we gone five days without giving a Brady non-update? Yes? Then we need another one ... BTW, has anyone bothered to ask if Brady has ever uttered the words, 'I'm coming back next year...' ever before?) but just remember this: Mr. Instagram/IAmTheStorm could end all of this nonsense with some sort of cryptic message, and he has refused to that.

  • Make no mistake, this is happening because of the Jimmy Garoppolo trade. He might still be here under the franchise tag ready to traded to the highest bidder any day now if Bill Belchick shad his way.
