Tom Brady plans offseason throwing program with teammates; Patriots hold pre-draft workouts with QBs taken at BSJ Headquarters (Patriots)

Two Tom Brady-related notes to wrap up your Wednesday:

1. There are now multiple reports out there that suggest Brady will spend some of his time this offseason working with some pass catchers between the end of the offseason program and the start of training camp. It’s unclear what exactly that will entail, but it’s reasonable to assume that it’ll be similar to the Montana getaway that was seen in “Tom vs. Time,” where he spent time throwing with Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola.

This is hardly earth-shattering -- Brady has done this on a fairly regular basis over the years. But it would certainly lend credence to the idea that any talk about his walking away from the game prior to the start of the 2018 season is premature at best.

2. It’s impossible to notice this news in a vacuum, but it is worth noting that reports continue to come out that the Patriots are kicking the tires on a number of developmental quarterbacks in the days leading up to the draft.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Media, the Patriots have worked out Richmond’s Kyle Lauletta and Washington State’s Luke Falk. That’s in addition to the recent updates from NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport that had them looking at Oklahoma State’s Mason Rudolph and Western Kentucky’s Mike White as well. (They also have a private workout with Princeton’s Chad Kanoff.)

It’s important to note that New England has always been very aggressive when it comes to drafting quarterbacks over the last dozen or so years. But taking into account Brady's age and the potential need to create a contingency plan if he does decide to retire, it appears the Patriots are doing their due diligence when it comes to assessing some of their pre-draft options at quarterback.

We've compiled a pre-draft series of profiles on many of those quarterbacks. Check them out here:
