Welcome back, Hanley Ramirez.
The first baseman, who missed Friday’s game as a precautionary measure after getting plunked in the series finale against the Yankees, was back in the lineup Saturday and helped power the Red Sox to a 10-3 win over the Orioles at Fenway.
Ramirez homered and doubled to drive in three and Hector Velazquez added five solid innings of work to help lift Boston to its third consecutive win and 12th victory in 14 games to start the season.
Ramirez, Andrew Benintendi (three RBI) and J.D. Martinez (homer, two RBI) provided the bulk of the offense for the Red Sox.
The only negative on the day for Boston came in the first when Mookie Betts was injured in a collision at home plate with Baltimore catcher Chance Sisco. Betts stayed in the game, but he left shortly afterward. The team announced he had suffered a left foot contusion. X-rays were negative, and he was pronounced day-to-day.
Joe Kelly and Marcus Walden combined for four innings relief for the Red Sox.
The Orioles were playing catch-up out of the gate, as starter Alex Cobb (a Bay State native) was uneven in his first start of the season. Boston got three in the first, one in the third and another four in the fourth to put the game away early. It was the fourth loss in the last five games for Baltimore.
IN-GAME OBSERVATIONS
4:11 p.m.: That's it. Sox win, 10-3.
3:40 p.m.: Acknowledgment to Brock Holt there -- guy is struggling, but he still found a way to get on base there with that infield single.
3:27 p.m.: Marcus Walden in the game. Joe Kelly went one inning and had a strikeout.
3:21 p.m.: This Benintendi-Ramirez-Martinez trio is going to wear pitchers out this year. Double to left for Martinez makes it 9-2. The three have all the RBI this afternoon.
3:13 p.m.: Marcus Walden warming for the Red Sox as we go to the bottom of the sixth.
3:07 p.m.: Great catch for Bradley off Jones there.
