RB Orleans Darkwa reportedly taking free-agent visit with Patriots

Running back Orleans Darkwa is making a free-agent visit with the Patriots on Monday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.


The 6-foot, 210-pound Darkwa is a 26-year-old who has spent four seasons in the NFL, the last three-plus with the Giants. A between-the-tackles type who has shown the occasional ability to catch the ball out of the backfield, he had 19 receptions for 116 yards last year with New York. In 52 career regular-season games at the NFL level, he has 246 carries for 1,038 yards (4.2 yards per carry) and nine rushing touchdowns. In addition, he has 29 career catches for 207 receiving yards.

With Dion Lewis leaving as a free agent, Darkwa could certainly be part of New England’s traditional running back-by-committee ground game it has favored in recent years.
