Good morning!
A few random thoughts while I contemplate the Red Sox' record if they only played teams from Florida for 162 games...
- ONE BIG NOTE: We're doing some maintenance/upgrades today on both the site and the app so there may be some quick, periodic outages here and there while we install some long-overdue updates like iPhone X and helping the lingering login issues. We're not anticipating this taking very long. Hopefully, you won't even notice.
- One function that will definitely be turned off for a couple hours: buying a subscription and/or upgrading your account (which you can do at ANY TIME under My Account). If you encounter an error, please come back a few hours later. Thanks!
- Nothing has or will change for us at BSJ. We still have the same mentality as when we started — we only have one market because we only care about one market: Boston. And writing interesting stories is only part of the BSJ experience. Every day we start with the same question: Is this what our members would care about? Because that's all that matters.
- Working to finish up some exciting staffing and coverage updates. Can't wait to share those with you.
- I'm not sure what to make of the Bruins right now. It wasn't all that long ago they were completely steamrolling people even with several important players out of the lineup. Now most of the players are back, and they finished 1-3-1, including last night's loss to the Panthers where the Bruins gave up a chance for home-ice advantage.
- In many ways, yes, it doesn't matter because the Stanley Cup playoffs are a completely different animal and the Bruins will have to win home and away to go anywhere. But it's difficult not to say the Bruins would have had a much easier road against the Devils and with home-ice against the Lightning (if they would have beaten the Maple Leafs had Sunday's outcome been different), and they blew their chance at that (at home, no less).
- Hopefully, a few days rest does the trick, because some of the Bruins, especially the top line, looks a little tired.
- Extended spring training was nice and productive — six runs with two outs in the eighth was pretty cool on Sunday — but the Red Sox' 2018 season starts Tuesday when the Bombers and Mr. K, Giancarlo Stanton, come to town.
And away we go....
