HEADLINES

Make it six-straight: It certainly wasn't the prettiest victory — the Red Sox went 17 batters without a hit at one point, left 11 men on base, and the bullpen blew up the eighth again — but they got the job done. A game-tying double from Xander Bogaerts in the ninth tied things at two and sent the Sox to extra innings for the second straight game.. Bobby Poyner's two scoreless innings earned him his first major league win and Hanley Ramirez's game-winning, bases-loaded rope to the warning track in right sealed it in the 12th. Since dropping the opener to the Rays, Boston has won six straight.
