HEADLINES
Nothing if not resilient: Twice, the Red Sox lost leads Tuesday night: a 1-0 lead forged in the first was squandered in the fourth, and more distressingly, a 3-2 lead in the top of the 11th was lost in the bottom of the same inning. But when the Sox tacked on two in the top of the 13th, they made that stand up. "It was a hard-fought battle,'' said starter Chris Sale. "We just never gave up. We talked about just grinding the whole way, never giving in and not hanging your head.''
Hanley the hero at home: In front of family and friends, Hanley Ramirez was the big star, blasting a double to the wall in left in the top of the 13th which scored the go-ahead runs. "It was fun,'' said Ramirez. "I've got my kids watching me play. It makes for a lot of good memories.'' With Eduardo Nunez at second and the count 2-and-0 on Andrew Benintendi, Miami elected to intentionally walk Benintendi to pitch to Ramirez. Ramirez insisted that wasn't extra motivation, but he sure looked fired up at second after stroking the big double.
