BSJ Daily Briefing 03.29.18: Welcome to Opening Day taken at BSJ Headquarters (Regular Features)

(Kim Klement/USA TODAY Sports)

Quite a day. The Red Sox have their season opener, the Celtics win another crazy one on the road (without Kyrie!) and the Bruins are playing for the best record in the East Thursday night. Good times.

--You never want to see a team lose a star (or in the case of the Celtics, two of them in Irving and Gordon Hayward), but without them, it's been a blast seeing Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown start to evolve into the sorts of players capable of taking over a game. They would have eventually gotten there, but the fact that Boston is down Irving and Hayward has clearly accelerated the process a bit -- 4-0 on the road, and now, they come home for a big one against the Raptors. Giddyup.

--Tampa two-fer today with the Red Sox-Rays and Bruins-Lightning. Wonder if either Tampa team is going to bring in Jameis Winston for a fiery pregame pep talk.
