NEWS AND NOTES:
- Rafael Devers, who injured his knee during an awkward slide at the plate Monday evening, "checked-in fine,'' according to Alex Cora. "He's not going to play today. He's going to hit in the cage. He'll be in the lineup on Thursday.''
- A number of players on the DL -- Tyler Thornburg, Marco Hernandez, Steven Wright, Austin Maddox -- will remain in Fort Myers to take part in extended spring as they make progress toward returning to action.
- There had been some discussion of having Craig Kimbrel pitch in the finale, but to preserve him for the first series of the year, the Sox opted to have him throw a bullpen session on the back mounds instead. UPDATED: For whatever reason, something changed and Kimbrel is now pitching the fifth inning.
