Welcome to first and 10, a roundup of all the (mostly) Patriots-related news you need to start your day:
Good morning! A few random NFL notes while we go through Bill Belichick's Tuesday morning Q&A at the NFL coaches breakfast, which is wrapping up as we speak.
--Have no idea how much they'll be able to squeeze out of Ndamukong Suh -- my guess is he's a one-and-done guy out there -- but that Rams' defense looks terrifying. Suh, Aaron Donald, Aqib Talib, Marcus Peters, Nickell Robey-Coleman and Sam Shields. Yikes. And right now, the Rams are a great example of the fact that when it comes to team-building, it helps to have good timing. You want to know how they can afford to add all those names? They have a talented young quarterback in Jared Goff who is still on his rookie deal. That was one of the secrets to Seattle's success a few years ago. The Rams know that window isn't going to stay open forever, and they're maximizing it. Good for them.
--Speaking of the Seahawks, GM John Schneider says the team is re-tooling and not re-building. I don't know about you, but I'm fascinated to see where they end up this year. Is that an 8-8 team? Or do they still have an 11-5 type of run in them? It's awful hard to retool in the NFC West these days, which leads me to believe they could be headed for a .500 season. Lots of time between now and the start of the season, though.
--The Colts turned down multiple trade offers for Jacoby Brissett? Intriguing on a number of levels. I know that represents a pat-on-the-back for our old buddy, who earned it by gutting his way through a year where he was fundamentally thrown into the deep end of the pool and asked to swim. But I also wonder if it's connected to any sort of long-term prognosis on Andrew Luck's shoulder. Worth keeping an eye on.
--The coaches breakfast is going on as we speak. Greg is in Florida, and he'll have all the details. I'm looking for another Bill Belichick juice-drinking picture from our friend Jeff Howe. (If Howe had a nickel for every time that picture was copied and used as an Internet meme, he'd be a rich man.)
--Pro Day Schedule for Tuesday: Appalachian State, Florida Atlantic, Iowa State, Kansas, Mississippi, Texas A&M (Johnny Manziel is supposed to throw at Texas A&M).
Now, on with the links...
1. Greg weighs in on Kraft's Monday afternoon Q&A with the media.
2. Here's pretty much the guts of what Kraft had to say when it comes to Belichick, Brady, Butler and Gronkowski.
3. There was some talk Monday about the idea of a disgruntled Giants organization putting Odell Beckham, Jr. on the trading block. Would the Patriots be a good fit? Hear me out.
4. Miguel has a salary cap recap from Monday night that looks at what some of the last few moves meant to the Patriots from a financial perspective.
5. I have a Tuesday afternoon Q&A. Get your questions in now, because it's going to be epic.
6. Our buddy Jim McBride of the Globe tracked down Josh McDaniels to get his side of what's happened to him this offseason, including his reversal of field when it came to the Colts.
