BSJ Game Report: Panthers 3, Bruins 0 -- Depleted lineup an issue for Boston taken at BB&T Center (Bruins)

SUNRISE, Fla. -- The injuries are adding up and the Bruins felt the effects without the services of Patrice Bergeron, Charlie McAvoy, Zdeno Chara and Jake DeBrusk during a 3-0 loss to the Florida Panthers Thursday night at BB&T Center.

It didn't help that David Backes was ejected from the game in the first period (more on that below) as Boston couldn't generate an offense as Panthers goalie James Reimer finished with a 46-save shutout.

Everything else you need to know from the Bruins' loss in quickie form, with BSJ insight and analysis.

Another suspension? Backes could face his second suspension this month for his hit from behind on the Panthers' Vincent Trocheck at 17:56 of the first period. The play was in the neutral zone when Backes made contact with Trocheck, knocking him to the ice near the Bruins' bench. The Panthers' Mike Matheson quickly jumped in and dropped the gloves with Backes, who was given a match penalty for the hit. It's also an automatic disciplinary hearing.
