IN-GAME OBSERVATIONS:
- Red Sox load the bases, but leave them loaded in the first as Tyler Duffey fans both Xander Bogaerts and Mitch Moreland to strand three.
- Chris Sale allowed a one-out triple to the right-center field gap to Robbie Grossman, but stranded him at third by striking out both Logan Morrison and Max Kepler to keep the Twins scoreless.
- Moreland just pulled a pitch down the line for a solo homer, doubling the Red Sox lead in the third.
- Eduardo Nunez was struck by a pitch just above the right wrist in the top of the fourth, but after being examined by the training staff, remained in the game.
- For the second time in the first four innings, Sale allowed a one-out triple -- then proceeded to pitch out of the jam with two more strikeouts. He's hit 97 mph a few times on the scoreboard radar gun.

- Blake Swihart, who has caught, played first base and left field as well as served in the DH spot, will get a start at third base Sunday against the Pirates as the Red Sox look to expand his versatility.
- RHP Steven Wright is set to throw live batting practice for two innings Wednesday morning
- LHP Drew Pomeranz will long-toss Wednesday, then throw a bullpen Friday.
- LHP Eduardo Rodriguez will throw two innings of live BP Thursday.
- Alex Cora has yet to spell out how Sandy Leon and Christian Vazquez will split the playing time, saying he's comfortable with both behind the plate.
