On occasion of his 600th career goal, measuring Alex Ovechkin career success vs. Bruins taken at BSJ Headquarters (Bruins)

Washington Capitals' Alex Ovechkin became the 20th player in NHL history to reach the 600-goal milestone in Monday's 3-2 overtime victory over the Winnipeg Jets. He achieved the mark in his 990th career game. Only three players reached the feat in fewer games: Wayne Gretzky (718), Mario Lemieux (719) and Brett Hull (900).

Ovechkin is one of the most exciting generational players in over a decade, and he's had some interesting games against the Bruins during his career -- it's always fun to see Ovechkin go head-to-head with veteran defenseman Zdeno Chara. Maybe that's why the Bruins are the 14th-most scored against team on Ovechkin's list.

Chara has the ability to find that extra level of motivation when he plays against the likes of Ovechkin and the Penguins' Sidney Crosby. It's always been Chara's job during his career in Boston to play against the opponents' top lines, and over the course of his career, he's done an outstanding job against two of the best players in the world.

As far as Ovechkin goes, No. 8 has 21 goals and 24 assists for 45 points in 45 career games against the Bruins. Of his 21 goals, seven of them came on the power play. He's recorded one hat trick during a 10-2 win against the Bruins on March 3, 2008. Ovechkin also posted three, two-goal games and has one empty-net goal.

Washington is 14-2 against the Bruins when Ovechkin scores a goal.

He scored nine goals against Tim Thomas, including that hat trick. Ovechkin has seven goals against Tuukka Rask, two against Anton Khudobin, and one each on Manny Fernandez and Hannu Toivonen. (By way of comparison, Ovechkin has scored against 128 different goaltenders during his career. He scored the most against the Rangers' Henrik Lundqvist with 22 goals in 37 games.)
