HEADLINES

Bag full of tricks: David Pastrnak registered his first career hat trick, scoring all three goals in the third period, including an empty-netter. He wasn't playing his best hockey during the first two periods, but responded in the third. He now has 27 goals this season. His response showed he's maturing as a player, especially after his miscue led to Carolina's shorthanded goal only 51 seconds into the third period to give the Hurricanes a 4-1 lead.
