Two late third-period goals from the Blackhawks lifted Chicago past the Bruins Sunday afternoon at the United Center, snapping Boston's six-game winning streak.
Playing without Brad Marchand -- a late scratch because of an upper body injury -- the Bruins looked a little sluggish to open the game. Chicago took advantage of three early Boston penalties, jumping on the board with a power-play goal on an Artem Anisimov tip-in to make it 1-0 with 12:34 left in the first.
The Blackhawks carried a 1-0 lead into the midway stages of the third period, but Zdeno Chara tied the game at one with 9:03 left in regulation.
That's when Chicago's Patrick Kane and Brent Seabrook answered with late tallies to give the Blackhawks the win. Anton Forsberg made 31 saves for the winners, while Anton Khudobin had 36 saves for the Bruins.
Observations from the third period:
• And that should pretty much do it. A second third-period goal from Chicago with just over a minute left makes it 3-1.
• That was fast. A couple of seconds into the power play Kane puts Chicago up 2-1, off the post and in with 3:16 to go.
• Chara off for high sticking--four minutes. Big chance here for the Blackhawks.
• Khudobin doing his part to make sure it stays knotted at one. Some terrific work between the pipes.
• Krug is back on the ice.
• Zdeno Chara delivers a wrister with 9:03 left in the third to get the Bruins on the board and tie the game at one. Big-time play.
• Tory Krug is ... hurt.
