IN-GAME OBSERVATIONS:
- To say it was not a good day for Jalen Beeks would be a massive understatement. The young left was shelled for seven runs in the first inning -- allowing six hits and a walk -- without getting an out in the bottom of the first.
- The Red Sox have broken though! A leadoff double by J.D. Martinez, a groundout and an opposite-field single from Eduardo Nunez have combined for the Red Sox to piece together a run.
- Martinez came to the plate with the bases loaded and slammed a hard line drive single to left, scoring a run. He's had two good at-bats today, pulling the ball both times.

NEWS AND NOTES
- David Price was scheduled to throw against the Twins at Hammond Stadium today for his first Grapefruit League start. But with rain in the forecast this afternoon, the Red Sox have made some adjustments and will instead have Price pitch in a minor league camp game at the Red Sox complex. "It is what it is,'' shrugged Alex Cora. "We've got to keep him healthy. We don't know what's going to happen. (The forecast) has been switching the whole day and we don't know what's going to happen. We've got to make sure he gets his repetition and go from there. Obviously, yeah, we want him to be (in a Grapefruit League setting) and start feeling the flow of the games, but it's going to be the next one.''
- LHP Drew Pomeranz will throw live batting practice for two innings either Wednesday or Thursday as he attempts to overcome a flexor strain. "We're very pleased,'' Cora said, "with the progression. That's going to be a big step. We've just got to see how he feels (Tuesday) and we'll go from there.''
