Defensive back and special teamer Brandon King has re-upped with the Patriots, agreeing to a two-year deal according to his agent Sean Stellato.

King is a 6-foot-2, 214-pounder out of Auburn who has carved out a niche as a core special teamer since he arrived in New England in 2015. The 24-year-old has played in 42 regular-season games in his career, all with the Patriots, and has distinguished himself in that time by making plays like this one against the Chargers. (He’s No. 36.)

King is one of a handful of key special teamers on the roster, a group that includes Nate Ebner and Matthew Slater, both of whom are set to become unrestricted free agents on Wednesday. (King would have been a restricted free agent as well if he hadn't agreed to a new deal.) In addition to King's new deal, look for the Patriots to make a hard push to sign one or both of those players before the start of the new league year.
