No word on whether this was the result of an injury. More details as they become available. UPDATE: Holt was scratched because of left abdominal tightness. He'll be re-evaluated Wednesday.

- One batter later, Xander Bogaerts absolutely crushed a pitch over everything in left for his first homer.
- He got some help from a stiff wind, but Blake Swihart just collected his sixth double of the spring, tops among Grapefruit League hitters.

NEWS AND NOTES
- LHP Drew Pomeranz was re-evaluated Tuesday in Fort Myers and felt no pain in his left forearm. Pomeranz cut short his first Grapefruit League outing of the spring last Friday in Jupiter and was diagnosed with a mild flexor strain. "They're going over the schedule and program today and we'll have a better idea after the workout,'' said Alex Cora. "So that was good, that was a positive. It's just a matter of making sure what we're going to do. I was very (encouraged). We're not going to push somebody just to push them. We know it's 162 games. We just have to make sure we have the right program for him.''
- J.D. Martinez will make his Grapefruit League debut, in left field, Wednesday at home against the Minnesota Twins. Eduardo Nunez, meanwhile, played second base in a camp game Tuesday morning and will likely make his Grapefruit League debut Thursday as the DH.
- Cora reiterated that he intends to use Martinez in the outfield during the season. "He'll be part of the mix,'' said Cora. "He's going to help us out to make this work, at-bat wise. I've been talking about resting guys and making sure they're fresh and for that to happen, obviously, he'll play the outfield. We'll move them around. Everybody's into it.''
- Blake Swihart will make his first appearance in the outfield Tuesday against the Rays. "I think it's more about getting his feet wet,'' said Cora. "He's played the position before. (We want him) to throw to the right base, take the right routes. We're trying to make him as versatile as possible.'' Swihart could soon see a game or two at third base.
- Cora anticipates making his first round of cuts by Saturday, after finishing up some long road trips in the second half of the week. The Sox currently have 56 players in camp.
