Randy Moss reaches Hall, while Ty Law will have to wait

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — Two former Patriots suffered a different fate when it came to Hall of Fame voting on Saturday afternoon.

Wide receiver Randy Moss, who was with New England from 2007 through 2010, was elected to the Hall on his first year of eligibility. A receiver who was a four-time first-team All-Pro, Moss had one of the greatest seasons of any pass-catcher of all time with the Patriots in 2007 when he had 98 receptions for 1,493 receiving yards and 23 touchdowns. For his career, the Marshall product had 982 catches for 15,292 yards and 156 touchdowns.

Cornerback Ty Law wasn’t as fortunate. Law, a corner who played for New England for 10 seasons, finished his career with 53 career picks, and was a three-time Super Bowl winner. A two-time first-team All-Pro, he was a central part of the New England defense from 1995 through 2004.

Moss will join Ray Lewis, Brian Urlacher, Brian Dawkins, Terrell Owens, Jerry Kramer, Robert Brazile and Bobby Beathard this August in Canton.
