Tom Brady missed practice on Wednesday with what the team said was an Achilles issue, but the quarterback said Friday that he’ll be “ready to go” for Sunday’s game against the Dolphins.
This week marked the first time in his career that Brady was sidelined with an Achilles injury, which raised some eyebrows among Patriots’ fans. But the quarterback was on the field at the start of Friday’s workout, and sounded an optimistic note when asked about his Achilles’ on Friday.
“I feel great,” he said. “Ready to go. So I’ll be excited for Sunday. It was good just to get a little extra treatment, and I’m feeling great this time of year. So, it’ll be a fun week. Nothing to worry about.”
Two other injury notes worth passing along when it comes to this weekend’s game between New England and Miami. Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, who didn’t practice on Wednesday and was listed as limited on Thursday because of an illness, said he was also good to go for Sunday’s game,
“I’m good,” he said. “(It was) just a little illness that went by quick. (I’m) definitely thankful for that, that it was super quick and (I’m) back. I'm good to go. Had a good practice today.”
For the record, Brady and Gronowski were removed from the injury report completely on Sunday. The news wasn’t so great for center David Andrews (illness), offensive tackle Marcus Cannon (ankle) and wide receiver Chris Hogan (shoulder), all of whom were ruled out for Sunday’s game. Here’s the rest of the Patriots injury report:
Doubtful
TE Martellus Bennett (shoulder/hamstring)
Questionable
WR Danny Amendola (knee)
DT Malcom Brown (ankle)
S Patrick Chung (ankle)
CB Eric Rowe (groin)
WR Matthew Slater (hamstring)
When it comes to the Dolphins, Miami coach Adam Gase ruled Jay Cutler (concussion) out for Sunday’s game. The Dolphins will go with backup Matt Moore. In three career starts against the Patriots, Moore is 0-3 with a 57 percent completion rate, 683 yards, six touchdowns, two interceptions and a passer rating of 91.6.
