The Patriots had no problem dispatching the Raiders Sunday afternoon in Mexico City, coming away with a thunderous 33-8 win on the way to their sixth straight victory of the season and setting a new AFC record with their 13th straight win away from home.
As is usually the case when he goes up against the likes of Jack Del Rio, Tom Brady was razor-sharp. He started 12-for-12, and ended up 30-for-37 for 339 yards with three touchdowns. He got big performances from Brandin Cooks (six catches, 149 yards, one touchdown), Danny Amendola (eight catches, 66 yards, one touchdown) and Dion Lewis (10 carries, 60 yards; four catches, 48 yards, one touchdown).
On the other side of the ball, Derek Carr was bedeviled by drops, as the Raiders couldn’t get much of anything going all afternoon. Carr was 28-for-49 for 237 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the loss. Marshawn Lynch had 11 carries for 67 yards for Oakland.
The Patriots jumped to a quick 14-0 win out the gate with touchdown passes to Amendola and Lewis. Things really picked up at the end of the first half, as the Raiders were driving for a touchdown that would have cut the lead to seven. But Oakland fumbled the ball away in the New England red zone, and Stephen Gostkowski answered with career-long 62-yard field goal just before the end of the second quarter to make it 17-0 at halftime.
The second half was more of the same, as the Patriots moved the ball up and down the field without an issue against the Raiders defense. Brady added a 64-yard touchdown pass to Cooks in the third quarter, and three second-half field goals from Gostkowski were more than enough cushion for New England to stay perfect away from home.
