Final: Bruins 3, Sharks 1

Anton Khudobin, folks. Anton Khudobin.

Staring his second consecutive game, he helped the Bruins to a 3-1 victory over the San Jose Sharks Saturday night at SAP Center. He finished with 36 saves and improves his record to 5-0-2. The Bruins received offense from Peter Cehlarik, Jake DeBrusk and Danton Heinen en route to victory.



The Bruins were without Torey Krug, Brad Marchand and Anders Bjork due to injuries.

Observations from the third period

• Sometimes a team needs puck luck and the Bruins are getting some in this period.


• That's the type of effort that will keep Frank Vatrano in the lineup. Keep the legs moving and win those 50/50 puck battles.


•  Danton Heinen postionally sound and gives the Bruins a 3-1 lead.


•  Kevan Miller has been a beast since a subpar performance against the Ducks.


•  That's one of the better plays Brandon Carlo has made in the last few games. Big block during a penalty kill.


•  Gonna be real tough for Bjork to regain his spot on Patrice Bergeron's line. Heinen has been solid at both ends of the ice.


•  Asked Sharks' Joel Ward two seasons ago if the NHL should retire Willie O'Ree's number. He said there should be a serious discussion about it and I agree.


•  Kevan Miller should teach youth players the proper technique for receiving a body check.


•  Here come the Sharks.


•  Bottom six have been solid for the Bruins tonight.


•  Bruins shut down the Kings in the third period on Thursday and Boston needs a similar performance against the Sharks in the next 20 minutes.

• David Pastrnak needs a goal.


• David Krejci should be called the "Snail" for his ability to slow the game down. He's sneaky good defensively, too.


• Let's see if Khudobin can keep this one-goal lead.

•  Meet Jake DeBrusk, folks. The rookie gives the Bruins a 2-1 lead. He needs to keep it going and find consistency.


•  Khudobin should be described as a backstop not a backup. Two huge saves on that power play by San Jose.


•  Can't stand when a player won't take a hit near the red line and ices the puck.


•  DeBrusk has been an entirely different player since he was a healthy scratch. Incredible rush that allowed Peter Cehlarik to notch his first NHL goal to tie it at 1-1.


• Bruins losing battles in front and now the Sharks have a 1-0 lead.


• Khudobin's rebound control has been much better of late. He's been strong getting pucks to the half wall and not kicking rebounds out to the slot.


• Another tough turnover by Brandon Carlo. Sharks thought they capitalize to take  an early 1-0 lead, but Bruce Cassidy challenged the play, and after review, the call on the ice was changed and it's not a goal because Joonas Donskoi  knocked the puck in with a glove.
