BSJ Daily Briefing 11.12.17: Bruins drop another; welcome service members! taken at BSJ Headquarters (Regular Features)

(Bob DeChiara/USA TODAY Sports)

Good morning!

Couple of quick thoughts before Chris Price and I head to Denver to bring you the usual comprehensive BSJ coverage of the Patriots in Denver:

  • Look, the Bruins played hard, played well for the most part and the opposing goalie played very well, but the bottom line is they just got swept by a Maple Leafs team that had won just three of their previous nine games and were without Auston Matthews.

  • The Bruins are now a lot closer to the bottom of the Eastern Conference than they are to the top, and they're about to embark on a four-game road trip, and they haven't exactly been road warriors.

  • Basically, this is a huge early stretch for this Bruins team. They have a few days before heading to Anaheim, and they need to make the most of it. Bruce Cassidy is on the spot.

  • With Saturday being Veteran's Day, I figured it was a good time to remind people that every day is Veteran's Day at BSJ — we offer free subscriptions to active and retired military personnel — as a small gesture of gratitude for all that you have and continue to provide for us. And boy, have people responded! We were already over 200 military members (they are not included in our counter at the bottom of the page) since the site launch, but we have received over 50 and counting since Saturday afternoon.

  • If your request hasn't been processed yet, just give us a little time. My wife and cohort, Mrs. BSJ, is working overtime to push those through.

  • We love having you here, and hope that if you like what you see and the BSJ experience, maybe you'll spread the word to family and friends back home. If not, no worries. We're thrilled to be one of the ways to connect you to back home.

  • If you're new to BSJ (and that goes for service members and the 300-plus that have signed up in the past month), you can find out a little more about us here.

  • In general, you need to know this: you are part of what happens at BSJ. Download the apps, so we're right at your fingertips. Comment on everything. Ask questions in Live Q&As. Submit story ideas to each writer. If you don't like how one of us is doing the job, then send us an email and hold us accountable. And then, if you like us, tell your buddies and get them to join because the model goes like this: the more members we have, the more we can do coverage-wise in terms of hiring editors and writers, and covering more sports. If something isn't working, let us know so we can fix the issue.

  • With that said, come on in and enjoy yourself.

A few reminders:

  • Every Friday, Dr. Jessica Flynn will answer your injury questions about all four teams, or any other injury questions you have. You can submit those questions at any time via email (docflynn@bostonsportsjournal.com), or you can Tweet them to her here.

  • Mr. PatsCap himself, Miguel Benzan, will also be doing a weekly mailbag with all your funky cap-related inquiries. Hit him up via email or Twitter.

  • A ton of our best work is available for free in our preview section if you're still on the fence about subscribing. Or if you have friends you want to join you as a member, send them that link to check us out.

  • iOS app. Android app. (Both have 5-star reviews)

  • You can subscribe here.

  • You can give a gift subscription here.

  • If you wish to upgrade your subscription to any of our other levels at any time, hit My Account at the top of the screen and then click Upgrade Subscription through a browser. In the app, click the settings thingy in the upper right-hand corner, click My Account, and then Upgrade Subscription.

  • We're going to kick in our advertising plan very soon. We're looking for advertising partners who realize the unique value of BSJ, and like to support small, home-grown businesses. For more information, go here. For this model to work, we need advertisers to help offset our travel budget. It's crucial.
