Bruins' Brad Marchand close to returning to lineup after missing two games with concussion

TORONTO – After missing the last two games with a concussion, it’s a possibility Brad Marchand could return to the lineup on Friday against the Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre.

He’s not with the team on the current trip, but could join the Bruins once doctors clear him in Boston.

“He’s going through his protocol, getting better,” said Bruce Cassidy. “So there is (a chance) but I’m not going to rule him in or out right now. He’s going through what he needs to do but there is a chance.”



Marchand was on the receiving end of a big hit by the Capitals’ Tom Wilson early in the first period of Saturday’s 3-2 loss to Washington. Marchand was clearly shaken up on the play and cautiously made his way to the bench. He never went to the room and didn’t miss a shift. He appeared to be a step behind for the rest of the night. Later in the first period, Marchand also collided with the Capitals’ John Carlson.

Also, Cassidy said David Krejci (back) has been skating in Boston, but he's still listed as week-to-week and will not play the next two games against the Maple Leafs. He will be re-evaluted before the Bruins head to the west coast on Monday for a three-game set against the Ducks, Kings and Sharks.
