Good morning!
A few thoughts while I figure out which player(s) will get ejected from tonight's Lions-Packers game, because it's suddenly all the rage in the NFL (my bet is on Lions LB Jarrad Davis):
- The Patriots now control their own destiny for No. 1 seed in the AFC. And they haven't even come close to playing their best football on a consistent basis.
- Seriously, what the heck is going on out there? A.J. Green (Bengals), Jalen Ramsey (Jaguars), Carlos Hyde (49ers) and Frostee Rucker and Haason Reddick (Cardinals) were all ejected for fighting, and Bucs WR Mike Evans should have been for decking Saints CB Marcus Lattimore.
- I guarantee you, in some corner of Park Avenue, some NFL executive is saying, "See what happens when we let them have a little fun?" Expect this to swing big time the other way next week. The NFL has to get this under control.
- The Saints are red hot and a real contender all of a sudden. The strides they've made on defense, especially in the secondary, have been astounding.
- We all know the Eagles are going to implode, right? Philly fans are only allowed so much enjoyment before fate deals them a cruel hand. That's just the deal. Now we have to guess how it happens. Best guess: Carson Wentz injury.
- Time to look for another job, Blair Walsh.
- Why does the Dolphins' offensive line still stink?
- What has John Elway done to improve the Broncos offense in the past couple of years?
- Note to Patriots coaching staff: see what having a real running game as a threat does for a passing offense and third-down conversions against the Chiefs' defense?
- I think Colin Kaepernick should have a job in this league (Cardinals would be a perfect place), but the Texans would be about the worst schematic fit in the league.
- Don't think we'll hear Tom Savage's agent chirping about his client this week.
- Woof: bad, bad drop, Julio Jones.
- The Rams are not this good.
