Brad Marchand out as Bruins host Wild

Add Brad Marchand to the list of injured players for the Boston Bruins.

Due to an upper-bod injury, the veteran forward will not be in the lineup against the Minnesota Wild Monday night at TD Garden. Marchand was on the receiving end of a big hit by the Capitals’ Tom Wilson early in the first period of Saturday's 3-2 loss to Washington. Marchand was clearly shaken up on the play and cautiously made his way to the bench. He never went to the room and didn’t miss a shift. He appeared to be a step behind for the rest of the night. Later in the first period, Marchand also collided with the Capitals’ John Carlson.



Coach Bruce Cassidy doesn't believe the injury will be longterm.

"But, I thought that with a few other guys, so I don't want to speculate anymore," he said. "The injuries are coming fast and furious. He's definitely out tonight and we'll have an update (soon) and hopefully it's not longterm."

Injury updates: The Bruins are already without the services of David Backes, David Krejci, Noel Acciari, Ryan Spooner, Adam McQuaid and Anton Khudobin. Acciari (finger) participated in the morning skate with a red no-contact sweater. Khudobin was also on the ice for the morning skate, but the Bruins recalled Zane McIntyre from Providence and he'll serve as the backup against the Wild.

Krejci, who has been sidelined with back issues, has been placed on injured reserve. He will be re-evaluated before the Bruins head to the west coast next Monday.

Help from below: The Bruins recalled defenseman Rob O'Gara from Providence and he'll be in the lineup tonight. Paul Postma will be a healthy scratch.

"Robbie's played well when he's been here, and down in Providence," Cassidy said. "He adds to the penalty kill where we can save Charlie (McAvoy) a little bit. The games, being as tight as they are, (McAvoy) can get a break (on the PK) so his minutes don't get too high. We do lose a bit on the power play because Paul's good on the second unit, so there's a trade off there."

Whiteout: Ryan White was released from his professional tryout. He'd been on a PTO wit the Bruins since Oct. 10.

"His tryout got mutually terminated," explained Cassidy. "He really worked hard when he was here. He practiced hard and was a good pro. We wish him well wherever he ends up, I'm not sure where that is, or where that will be, but we're just going to go with what we have here."

Plugging away: Bruins are in the midst of six games in 10 games and the stretch continues as they host the Wild. This is the first meeting between the Bruins and Wild this season. Historically, Minnesota has enjoyed success against Boston. Overall, the Wild owns a 14-4-2 record against the Bruins, including an 8-2-0 record at TD Garden.

Masked men: Tuukka Rask is 2-3-1 with a 1.96 goals-against average and a .937 save percentage  in six starts against the Wild. Minnesota's Devan Dubnyk is 2-5-0 with a 3.42 GAA and a .900 SP, including two shutouts in seven career starts against the Bruins.
