BSJ Daily Briefing 11.01.17: Seventh heaven

Good morning!

Going to have a Patriots/Jimmy Garoppolo column coming up this morning, so look for my thoughts on that.

Couple other things on my mind:

• I am absolutely loving this World Series. Yes, I'm a baseball guy (I was decent at Lincoln-Sudbury, was in the Rutgers program for a few years and my uncle ran the best baseball school in the country for 35 years), but I just enjoy the heck out of sports played at the highest level. Don't really care what sport it is, I'll watch it if it's great competition. And this World Series has been tremendous.


• That being said, there is no way this should be a home run:

• That pitch was away, and Joc Pederson barely made contact on the bottom half of the ball. That ball should have been a pop fly out to shallow left field. I'm all for a little bit more offense in these games (I like pitcher's duels, but people dig the long ball), but the juicing of these balls is totally out of control. I swear, in one close up, I saw Titleist written on the side of a ball.


• Can't wait for Game 7, but really hope it's not decided on a glorified pop fly.


• Oh, so Jerry Jones thinks Ezekiel Elliott is the victim of overcorrection by Roger Goodell? That's rich. This is the same Jerry Jones who thought Goodell could do no wrong when it came to deflategate. Jones also thought Goodell eventually got it right on Ray Rice.


• On paper, the Bills' trade for Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin makes a lot of sense, especially considering the Bills and Patriots still have to play twice this season and Benjamin had four catches for 104 yards on four targets earlier this season. But I'm interested in how Benjamin performs in Buffalo and New England when it's 20 degrees out and snowing. He's not exactly known as the toughest guy, and was a problem at times for the coaching staff.


• Best acquisition, by far, was the Seahawks getting Texans LT Duane Brown. Seattle's line is wretched, and Brown will help. He has huge durability issues, but hopefully, he can stay healthy for eight games.


• Eagles getting RB Jay Ajayi? Yawn. Talk about a team that could have used a left tackle.
