FOXBOROUGH — The Patriots are doing their due diligence when it comes to kicking the tires on some of the available free agents. On Wednesday, they had wide receiver Jake Kumerow and fullback Marquez Williams in for a workouts, league sources confirmed.
The 25-year-old Kumerow is a 6-foot-4, 206-pounder who was waived by the Bengals in September. Considered a developmental player out of Wisconsin-Whitewater, he joined the Bengals as a college free agent signee in 2015., and was on the practice squad in Cincy for most of the last two years. (He was on the 53-player roster and inactive for one game in 2016.)
At 6-foot-1 and 260 pounds, Williams is a classic, old-school fullback who was drafted by the Jags out of Miami this past spring. The 24-year-old was waived/injured on Sept. 1, and placed on injured reserve. He was released by Jacksonville earlier this month.
In other Patriots news, they also officially placed linebacker Harvey Langi on the NFI list, and promoted linebacker Trevor Reilly to the 53-man roster and added Mike Purcell to the practice squad -- some of which was covered here.
