Backes returns, Bergeron game-time decision as Bruins host Canucks

The Boston Bruins will have David Backes in the lineup tonight for the first time this season after the veteran forward has been dealing with a serious bout of diverticulitis. Also, Patrice Bergeron, who has been dealing with a lower-body injury since the preseason, will be a game-time decision.



Since Tuukka Rask is out tonight with an undisclosed injury after a collision with rookie Anders Bjork on Wednesday, Anton Khudobin will start in net against the Canucks. Fellow netminder Zane McIntyre was called up from Providence and serve as the backup.

Forward Ryan Spooner has been placed on injured reserve with a right groin adductor tear.
