After leaving Tuesday’s practice early due to a nagging lower-body injury, Bruins alternate captain Patrice Bergeron said he’s hopeful to be in the lineup for the season-opener against the Nashville Predators on Thursday at TD Garden.

Bergeron, who had offseason surgery to repair a sports hernia, said his current injury is not related to that procedure. He did not practice with the team on Monday, but was on the ice for the first few minutes before exiting the ice on Tuesday.

Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy listed Bergeron as day-to-day, but the veteran forward said he’ll be ready.

“I want to be in for Thursday,” Bergeron said. “We’re taking it a day at a time and we’ll see what happens.”

If Bergeron is cleared to play on Thursday, it will mark his 900th career regular-season game in the NHL.
