After rehabbing from offseason shoulder surgery, forward Peter Cehlarik was medically cleared and participated in the Bruins' full practice on Friday at Warrior Ice Arena.
Interestingly enough, he was on a line with David Krejci and David Pastrnak. Rookie Jake DeBrusk, who had been playing on that line throughout training camp and the preseason, was on a line with Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson and Teddy Purcell.
Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy said he wanted Cehlarik to work on that line since it was his first practice.
"He was just cleared, so we're mixing him in today," Cassidy said. "We separated the groups a little more today with who's going to play tomorrow and who's not. We played him there last year and liked a lot of his game. Essentially, we needed a spot today for him and try to keep some continuity with the lines for tomorrow, so we threw him in there."
Cassidy said Cehlarik will not be in the lineup on Saturday against the Blackhawks.
"I'll say this about Peter: He looks like he's improved his skating. He looks stronger, like a lot of kids his age it looked like a good summer for him. With his injury, it's unfortunate we don't get a good look at him. We've always liked Peter. We've won a lot of games with him in the lineup."
Cehlarik played 11 games for the Bruins last season, but the organization decided it was best to go with a veteran presence at the trade deadline and acquired Drew Stafford from Winnipeg. Now that Cehlarik is healthy, he's hoping to make an impact.
Training camp "still felt like the summer," Cehlarik said. "It felt like camp started today for me. I had been out there with the skating coach and a few of the other injured guys. I worked hard to get back and I had to be patient with it and I'm healthy now."
**The Bruins placed forward Kenny Agostino on waivers. If he clears waivers by noon on Saturday, a decision will be made to either assign him to Providence, or he could remain in Boston.
**Anton Khudobin will play the entire game against the Blackhawks on Saturday.
**Forward Austin Czarnik has performed well during camp and opened some eyes, but he's been sick of late and won't be active for the final preseason game.
"It's unfortunate," Cassidy said. "He's a guy who had a really good camp and was showing a lot of energy, better pop in his stride. He scored [in preseason] and we know he has some offense, so it's too bad we don't get another look at a guy."
