Four years later, Luke Kuechly has come clean. Sort of.
The last time the Patriots and Panthers met, the Carolina linebacker was in the middle of one of the more notable flaps in recent New England history. Late in the fourth quarter of what would turn out to be a 24-20 win for the Panthers back in November 2013, the officiating crew overturned a initial defensive pass interference call against Kuechly, who was all over Rob Gronkowski in the back of the end zone.
On a conference call on Wednesday, the former Boston College star sheepishly admitted that when it came to the non-call, he “might have gotten away with one” when referee Clete Blakeman picked up the flag, which allowed Carolina to escape with the win.
"I'm not even going to act like I didn't. I might have got away with one,” he said.
"I'm sure somebody will say something to me (this week),” he added. “I’ve spent some time up there and I know what those fans are like. They love football and it'll be fun. We'll see what happens."
