FOXBOROUGH — Rob Gronkowski is a man of his word.

On Sunday after the win over the Saints, he said he would talk with reporters on Monday. And at the end of media availability Monday afternoon, he stood at his locker and addressed the injury he suffered in the second half of the game.

“There are reports out there that say it was my groin, and yes, it is my groin. Just so you know,” he said. “It’s nothing serious. I’m just day-to-day.”

Asked if there was any relief that it wasn’t a serious injury, he nodded.

“Super relieved,” he said. “I’m good.

“Everything is going smooth. Another Monday,” he added. “It’s been like any other Monday. Just come in. Going to get a little workout in. Got meetings, film corrections and everything. (It’s) going well.”

Asked if there were any concerns about a potential recurrence of a back injury, he quickly responded, “No.”

Gronkowski also touched on a few other topics:

On his performance against the Saints: “As an offense, we started clicking out there. We were clicking in the first quarter, second quarter, third quarter, fourth quarter. We were working well together, The ball was being spread around to many different players and everyone was going their job, communicating well. It went well.”

On the fast start: “A fast start is always important. It was good to get it. What’s good is that we went all the way through the game and finished it out as an offense.”

On his touchdown catch: “(Tom Brady and I) kind of made eye contact. It was kind of like running a second route and he was scrambling, so I just turned it up the field. I felt like he was throwing the ball right when as I was turning. I just looked up to see — I was pretty sure he just threw it up in the air. I was just tracking the ball, tracking it in the lights a little bit, just seeing where it was. I just made the catch, and from there, (I ran).”

On going through a lot to come back and get that touchdown: “It felt good. It feels good always to get your first one of the year. Feels good to get the first win of the year. Just a good game overall. A good team win overall. It’s the right direction to start heading to.”
