Time running out on whether or not Hightower, Amendola will be able to play Sunday

Linebacker Dont'a Hightower (knee), wide receiver Danny Amendola (concussion, knee) and special teamer Matthew Slater (hamstring) were not spotted at the start of Thursday’s practice on the fields behind Gillette Stadium.



It was the second consecutive missed practice for the trio, and their absence casts serious doubt on whether or not they’ll be able to play on Sunday against the Saints. History tells us that if a player isn’t on the field by the time Thursday rolls around, barring a sizable turnaround, the probably won’t play that weekend.

The one bit of good news? Defensive lineman Vincent Valentine, who has been struggling with knee issues the last few weeks, was in attendance.
