The Patriots had the following players in for workouts on Tuesday.
Defensive backs Jarell Carter (Trinity International), Cody Riggs (Notre Dame), Channing Stribling (Michigan) and Jomal Wiltz (Iowa State), as well as tight end Alex Ellis (Tennessee) were all in for workouts in Foxborough, a league source confirmed.
Carter is a 5-foot-10, 196-pound defensive back is a rookie who spent time with the Cardinals this summer, and had a pair of passes defensed in the preseason finale.
Riggs s a 5-foot-9, 185-pounder who spent the last two seasons with the Titans, and had seven tackles and two passes defensed in 2015 with Tennessee.
Stribling, a 6-foot-2, 175-pound rookie, was waived by the Browns on Friday.
Wiltz is another rookie who checks in at 5-foot-10 and 174 pounds, and spent the summer with the Eagles.
Ellis is a 6-foot-4, 254-pounder who spent last season with the Jags, and caught three passes for 11 yards in six games.
