FOXBOROUGH — The Patriots practice squad is starting to take shape.

Per reports, New England has agreed to terms with several players, including D.J. Foster, when it comes to the practice squad. Foster is a 6-foot, 195-pound running back heading into his third season with the Patriots. In addition, Ted Karras, Geneo Grissom and David Jones were all added to the practice squad Sunday afternoon.

Meanwhile, many of the players who were cut have been picked up by other teams. According to the official NFL transaction wire, the Saints have claimed wide receiver Austin Carr, who was released Saturday by New England.  Offensive lineman Conor McDermott, another player who was cut Saturday by the Patriots, has been claimed by Buffalo. And tight end James O'Shaughnessy was claimed by Jacksonville.

Other Patriots claimed: CB Kenny Moore (Colts)

The team could get to 10 practice squad players this afternoon (it's not mandatory).

UPDATE — Just got back from practice. Here's what we observed:

LB Shea McClellin and DT Vincent Valentine were not at practice. Could mean that one (likely McClellin) or both could be headed to short-term injured reserve (up to two players could come back later in the season).

WR Cody Hollister, S Demarius Travis, S David Jones, DE Geneo Grissom, C James Ferentz, RB D.J. Foster, OL Ted Karras and LB Trevor Bates were present, meaning they're on the practice squad. Two more spots are open.

UPDATE: Patriots announced DL Darius Kilgo was the ninth player. One spot open.

New players CB Johnson Bademosi (29), WR Phillip Dorsett (13) and DE Cassius Marsh (92) were present in their new numbers.

In addition, the following players, who were waived/injured, reverted to injured reserve: DT Josh Augusta, DT Woodrow Hamilton, CB D.J. Killings, WR Devin Lucien.
