Julian Edelman went down with what appeared to be a right knee or leg injury in the first quarter of Friday’s preseason game against the Lions in Detroit.

The wide receiver caught a pass on a crossing pattern from quarterback Tom Brady on New England’s first drive of the night, but when he tried to make a violent cut, he went down awkwardly. He held the back of his knee, and limped to the sideline. After a few minutes in the medical tent, he started to walk to the locker room, and his limp was not pronounced. Doctors chased him down and made him get in cart.

The 6-foot, 198-pound wide receiver has spent eight seasons with the Patriots, and has 425 catches for 4,540 yards and 24 touchdowns in his career.
