BSJ Daily Briefing 08.25.17

Greg is in transit to Detroit for Friday's game, so you guys are stuck with me for today's briefing. Even though the Red Sox managed to split their four-game series in Cleveland, the team can't be feeling too great after Chris Sale got roughed up for the second consecutive time against the Indians in a 13-6 loss on Thursday night. Sean had a very interesting look at the potential causes of those struggles in his piece this morning, so be sure to check that out. Sale's issue deserve to be closely monitored against Boston's likely first round playoff opponent (if the standings hold).

Elsewhere, there is still plenty of fallout from the Kyrie Irving trade to digest as the NBA continues to move towards having a hot stove season that lasts all summer long. I'll be diving much more into the on-court dynamics of the trade from the Celtics perspective in the coming days, so stay tuned for that. Additionally, the always important third preseason game for the Pats will kick off a busy sports weekend for late August on Friday night, so it should be a busy few days here at BSJ.
