BSJ Daily Briefing 08.24.17: 1-month old taken at BSJ Headquarters (Thank you members)

(Ken Blaze/USA TODAY Sports)

And, suddenly, we're all of 1-month old!

People like to say that having a business is like having a baby. Well, they weren't kidding. Maybe in publishing it's more like twins, which my wife and I have. It's all a blur. You sleep when you can. There's throwup all over the place (oh, that's just Baby B-Robb). Everybody pitches in. And then the next day you do the same thing again.

I do have to say, though, this is has been a lot of fun. Tiring at times, yes (wah, cry me a river Bedahd), but also a bunch of fun. More than I thought it would be.

I'm not going to get all gushy about this. I just want to say thank you to our small and independent staff. They've been working tirelessly, and I also get the feeling that they're enjoying this as well. I think it reminds some of us, especially the elder statesmen, of how we got started in this business: at the very bottom and having to prove yourself every minute of every day, or you might get left behind. We're grunts at heart. Sure, we all achieved lofty perches in this business, and it was great while that lasted, but what we're doing now, with our backs against the wall, is also strangely comfortable for us.

But, most of all, I want to thank you, the readers, on behalf of all of us. You guys and girls have put your hard-earned money down and said, 'I'm willing to give these guys a chance to prove themselves.' That means everything to us. We have families too, we've seen our paychecks shrink, we get the constraints of everyday life. We know that reaching for that credit card is not an easy decision for many of you. But you've done it, and we're trying to repay you every day with our sweat and hard work. Not every day will be a home run (like Tuesday night was, in my humble opinion), but know that we're going down swinging for you, Rob Deer style.

We know this site literally would not exist without you. And, certainly, we would not have gotten off to the start we have (nearly 4,400 subscribers, 1.2 million pageviews) in our first month without your passion or you spreading the BSJ gospel to friends and family (And, hey, keep that up! Did we mention a BSJ gift subscription is the perfect birthday present for that Boston sports-loving man or woman in your life?!)

So thank you, truly, for a terrific first month. Hopefully, it's the first of many for years to come. We'd like nothing better.

SITE TOPICS

Some of you have had trouble with passwords and changing them. That's being cleared up after we had an email issue (that has been reoccurring but should be cleared up ASAP). It also affected emails that never reached us. So if you haven't heard from us on something in while, please email help@bostonsportsjournal.com and we'll get it squared away. We try really hard to stay on top of any issues.

Know that we're also working on the annoying issue where you have to (too) often log back in on your mobile device. An app update is coming.

And I know many have complained about the podcasts not working in the background on the app. Here's the best work around. Go to our page at PodBean (https://bostonsportsjournal.podbean.com/), download their app on the lower right side, and subscribe to our podcasts. They won’t timeout, and you’ll get them automatically. Thanks!

We're trying every day to get it as right as possible.

And away we go...
