BSJ Daily Briefing 08.23.17: The Trade taken at BSJ Headquarters (Regular Features)

(Greg M. Cooper/USA TODAY Sports)

Well ... how about that day?

Looked like it was just going to be a boring, midweek, late-summer Tuesday for much of the day, and then, pow, all hell broke loose.

Isaiah Thomas out. Kyrie Irving in.

And if that wasn't enough, Doug Fister pitched probably the most overlooked one-hitter in Red Sox history to help the Sox get over Monday's frustrating loss.

It was the kind of day that makes Boston the sports hub of the universe. And it was the type of day that shows why BSJ is here, and why we're here to stay.

We had EIGHT, count them, EIGHT original pieces on the site related to the trade (not to mention the pre-trade analysis pieces Brian Robb had already penned). Not sure you'll find more comprehensive coverage anywhere in this town. Not only did we have B-Robb killing it with multiple analysis pieces — the type you won't see anywhere else — but we had Sean McAdam chipping in two reaction pieces from the Sox in Cleveland, Joe McDonald and Chris Price put together a really good Boston trades list and another reaction piece, and I added my take on the big move.

Couldn't be more proud of our little staff. I told them early in the night, when the reports first surfaced, that it was all hands on deck and no one complained. The universal response was, 'What can I do?' They know what's at stake. They know we need to give the readers everything we can, and they delivered. And you responded.

Our pageviews were the second-highest since our second day of operation, only beaten out by Sean's Dave Dombrowski piece. If the trade didn't break at 7 p.m., we would have eclipsed that mark. We also added over 60 new subscribers after the reports first surfaced.

People wanted information about the trade. They wanted expert analysis. And they found it at BSJ.

Thank you for turning to us. We hope you were informed and entertained.

And away we go...
