BSJ Daily Briefing 08.20.17 taken at NRG Stadium (Regular Features)

(Kevin Jairaj/USA TODAY Sports)

Whew. Busy day around Boston sports with the Yankees facing Chris Sale, and the Patriots in Houston to take on the Texans in an exhibition game (the NFL hates it when you call it an exhibition, so I love it).

Both teams lost (well, if you call what the Patriots did "losing") so it wasn't a great day sports-wise. But it still seemed like fun from afar.

Can we talk about Rafael Devers? Is there anything that kid can't do? Wow.

Let's not talk about the Red Sox' baserunning.

One site note: Be on the lookout for Sunday notes columns from all four sports to get your Sunday Funday off on the right foot. Nothing major, just some good news and notes to wash down with your coffee.

LOOKING BACK

Patriots

We've seen this in practice, but now everyone's seen it in a game: Rex Burkhead's versatility could be trouble for defenses.

Game Report has all you need to know about the game, leading with the defensive line going deep.

Video of Rex Burkhead talking about the game.

Chris Price did a great job of keeping everybody up to date in the Live Coverage.

Red Sox

Oy, the Red Sox' baserunning.

Chris Sale gave up two homers to the Yankees. Surprising.

Live Coverage by Sean McAdam. Always has some good nuggets.

Bruins

Joey Mac did his first Live Q&A.

Celtics

WHAT’S ON TAP

1:35 p.m.: Yankees at Red Sox, Fenway (McDonald)

PARTING THOUGHT

This is one of the better 15-yard punt returns you're ever going to see (Cyrus Jones ran about 45 yards for it).
