Live coverage: Practice No. 12 taken at Gillette Stadium (Patriots)

Adam Richins for BSJ

FOXBOROUGH — The Patriots are back in action on Monday morning for what will be their final public practice of training camp. Plenty to watch out for, particularly on the defensive side of the field, in the wake of a disappointing preseason opener last Thursday. I'll be on the scene live from Gillette for the action, doing my best to fill in for Chris Price and Greg Bedard while Greg heads down to West Virginia for the joint Texans-Pats practice session Tuesday and Wednesday.

Updates to come:

Alan Branch appears to be off the PUP list since he is on the field for practice for the first time all summer. He's wearing a shell and helmet like the rest of his teammates.

• Brandon King, Matthew Slater, Matt Lengel, Tony Garcia are all absent from the practice field.

•  Wide receiver Cody Hollister and safety Damarius Travis are wearing red non-contact jerseys on the field.

•  Deatrich Wise is on the field but is not participating in practice. He suffered a head injury during Thursday's preseason loss to the Jaguars.

•  Players are in light shoulder pads and shorts for the practice session.

•  Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy is on the scene taking in practice today. Celtics head coach Brad Stevens also visited training camp two weeks ago.

•  Brandin Cooks continues to look sharp in training camp, making a nifty back shoulder catch from Brady in tight coverage.

•  A few wows from the Gillette Stadium crowd as Chris Hogan catches a tough deep ball, but it appears he was out of bounds when he made the reception.

•  List of players doing some conditioning work on the lower practice field: Keionta Davis, Mike Gillislee, Dont'a Hightower, Andrew Jenks, Shea McClellin, Deatrich Wise.

•  Jacob Hollister continues to take a beating in the middle of the field. After getting crushed after a number of receptions against the Jaguars, Hollister took a tough hit in 11-on-11s. He was slow to get off the field and had his right shoulder looked at on the sidelines but returned to the field a short time later. Hollister's roster competition James O'Shaughnessy also returned to the practice field and made a couple grabs in 11-on-11s.

•  Great touchdown snag by Malcolm Mitchell on a deep ball down the left side while facing coverage from Stephon Gilmore and Devin McCourty.

•  Add Danny Amendola and Julian Edelman to the list of impressive catches today in 11-on-11s. That's one from everyone on the wide receiver depth chart thus far. Austin Carr is going to have his work cut out for him to beat out Amendola and make this team and/or convince the Pats to carry six receivers.

•  Final quarterback stats for 11-on-11s: Tom Brady 16/22, Jimmy Garoppolo 8/15, Jacoby Brissett 1/2
